Import Leads

Bulk import leads into your CRM from a CSV file using the step-by-step import wizard.

Admin only — This feature is only available to organization admins.

The Import Leads page lets you bulk import leads from a CSV file using a guided three-step wizard.

Step 1: Upload

  1. Navigate to Import in the CRM sidebar.
  2. Drag and drop a CSV file onto the upload area, or click to browse your files.
  3. The file must be a .csv file, up to 5 MB in size, with headers in the first row.

Once uploaded, you'll see a preview of the first few rows and the number of columns detected. Click Continue to proceed.

You can also click Download example CSV to get a template file with the expected format.

Expected CSV Format

Your CSV should include columns for:

Column headers don't need to match exactly — the wizard auto-detects common variations like "first_name", "First Name", "given name", etc.

Step 2: Map Columns

The wizard automatically maps your CSV columns to lead fields based on header names. Review the mappings and adjust if needed:

  1. For each lead field, select the corresponding CSV column from the dropdown.
  2. Required fields are marked with a red asterisk (*).
  3. A green checkmark appears next to successfully mapped fields.
  4. The Mapped Data Preview table shows how your data will look after mapping.

All four required fields (First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone) must be mapped before you can continue.

Step 3: Configure & Import

Before importing, configure the default settings for your new leads:

  1. CRM Status — Choose which pipeline stage the imported leads will start in (defaults to "New").
  2. Owner — Optionally assign all imported leads to a specific team member. Leave as "No owner (unassigned)" to import without assignment.

Review the Import Summary showing:

  • Number of leads to import
  • Number of mapped fields
  • Selected status and owner

Click Import to start the import. A spinner shows while the import is in progress.

Results

After the import completes, you'll see:

  • A success message showing how many leads were imported
  • Any rows that had errors, with the row number and error message
  • Links to Import More or View Leads to see your newly imported leads in the CRM
